  2. Contact us by email or phone to confirm availability.
  3. We will send you a booking form, which will need to be filled in and returned to us along with the following:
    • Photocopies of the paper and card driving licenses for all proposed drivers.
    • A photocopy of a utility bill or bank statement (no more that 8 weeks old).
    • The signed booking form.
    • The booking deposit of £150, which is non-refundable and necessary to secure the booking.
  4. We will email your confirmation and invoice for the final balance. The final balance is due 28 days prior to collecting the van. However, if you have made a “Late Booking” (hiring within 28 days of checking availability) you will need to send the full balance with the booking form.

Can more than one person be insured to drive the camper vans?

Yes, but there is an extra charge, and we will need to see driving licences and supporting documents too. Again the same criteria must be fulfilled.

NOTE: That all drivers must be registered with Comfy Campers. If they are not, not only is it illegal, but also the camper van will not be insured, so you will be personally liable for any other costs or damages.

What level of insurance is included with the hire charge?

The hire charge includes fully comprehensive insurance for one named driver in what our insurers consider a ‘normal’ occupation and aged between 23 – 70 with no convictions or endorsements on their licence.

If there are endorsements or convictions, or they are in a high-risk occupation, we will advise customers over the additional charges. Up to two additional drives can also be added (so three drivers in all) although each additional charge incurs a loading cost. It is a legal requirement for the camper vans to be properly insured, and we are guided by our insurers as to who we can insure to drive our camper vans. We reserve the right to refuse hire to anyone who is refused insurance by our insurers.

What are the pick up and delivery times?

  • Camper vans on weekend hire shall be available for collection on Friday afternoon at 4pm and should be returned on Monday at 11pm unless previously arranged with Comfy Campers.
  • Campervans on seven-day hire shall be available for collection on Friday afternoon at 4pm and be returned on Friday before 11am unless previously arranged with Comfy Campers.

What do I need to bring with me when I pick up the campervan?

Comfy Campers need to see the hirer’s valid driving licence and proof of address (this could be a utility bill dated within the last 3 months). You will also be required to leave a security deposit of £500 payable by credit or debit card.

Are personal belongings covered in the camper van?

No. We recommend that travel insurance be taken out by the Hirer to cover all personal belongings.

How much is the security deposit, and what is it for?

The security deposit is £500 per camper van booked, and is payable by debit or credit card. It is taken so that we have recourse on customers who return the camper van very late, return it dirty inside, or have damaged the camper van in some way.

It is also there to go towards the insurance excess should you have an accident in a campervan. The security deposit is not cashed unless we have to use it, and we will return it to you within seven working days of the end of the hire period, as long as everything is in order. Should we need to use any of the deposit money, you will be advised of this in advance and any remaining balance will be returned to you within 30 days of the end of the hire period.

Does the camper van come with a full tank of petrol?

Yes the camper van does but MUST be returned with a full tank at the end of hire.

What fuel does the camper van run on?

All our camper vans run on ordinary unleaded petrol

How many people will the camper vans sleep?

The camper vans will sleep four and an additional two in the awning. The awning attached not only provides a sleeping area for an additional two people but it provides added shelter and shade.

What happens in the even of a breakdown?

Of course this is highly unlikely! But for peace of mind, you have full roadside assistance cover from the AA. This means that assistance is available wherever you go, 24 hours around the clock. Each camper comes with an AA card with a 24-hour telephone number on it. On collection of the camper we will also provide you with a telephone number to reach us on outside of office hours.

Can I take my campervan to mainland Europe?

Unfortunately not, Comfy Campers campervans are restricted to hiring within the UK – but that does include the Isle of Wight and Northern Ireland!

Can I smoke in the camper van?

No sorry you can not smoke in the camper vans but its not far to pop outside.

Are dogs allowed in the campervans?

Yes dogs are welcome to go in our camper vans at an extra charge of £25 per dog per hire. We ask that owners are responsible with their dogs, and take care to cover seats with blankets to prevent them getting overly wet and muddy. Should any extra cleaning be required when the camper van comes back, we will have to take this out of the Damage Deposit you have left with us.

What do you provide with the camper vans?

Do I have to do anything to maintain the camper van when it is on-hire to me?

The camper van will be let out in a road worthy condition, licensed and taxed and all appropriate checks are carried out by us before the start of the Hire. As part our terms & conditions, we ask Hirers to carry out routine checks (e.g. washer bottle level, oil level, type pressures), just as they would on their own car.

What do I do in an emergency?

When you collect your camper van you will be given an information booklet in the glove box that contains useful information. Included in that information is our emergency number for use outside office hours as well as contact numbers for AA Fleet Cover Assistance. This provides cover to the Hirer for Roadside Recover (the AA will always try to repair the fault) and Relay (should the van be unable to be repaired then you will be taken to wherever the Hirer and Comfy Campers mutually decide you should be taken.) Details of what information the AA will need from you are in the booklet.
